Today is the official launch day for our Anthology ‘It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!’ Which means today marks the day I officially become a Children’s Author – HOORAY!
How did this happen?
Earlier in the year, Michelle Worthington, author and founder of Share Your Story, launched a competition asking for short stories, reflections and poetry about Christmas. The winning entries would be published in an Anthology! I already had a picture book called Charlotte’s Winter Wonderland, so I tweaked it to fit the short story format and entered it in.
But I still had another idea buzzing around my head…because last year on Christmas Eve we had our first ever mouse in the house! Since then I couldn’t get a certain poem out of my head…
And so little Santa Mouse was born. Well, kind of. I must send a shout out to two very supportive writing friends, Michelle Wanasundera and Fiona Lloyd, who helped me edit this beauty, and essentially made it a winning entry!
Where do the proceeds go?
To ensure that a trainee teacher has every chance of punctuality, attendance and success, proceeds from the sale of the Share Your Story Anthology – ‘It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas’ will be put towards purchasing a bicycle for the trainee teachers to ride to the Teachers’ Training College in Tanzania. As a teacher myself, I am excited to be contributing to this great cause! To this date we have raised enough for 20 bikies – which is awesome – but or goal is 100, so if you haven’t bought a copy yet, please do so!
Where can I buy a book?
So glad you asked!
You can purchase your copy directly through the publisher Lilly Pilly
If you are a local on the Mornington Peninsula you can buy in-store at Farrells Bookshop in Mornington. A big thank you to them for supporting a local Author’s book!
Thank you to everyone who has already bought a copy! They really make the perfect Christmas Stocking filler!
